Lucid Nature Series

Lucid Nature is an homage to the Virginia countryside, uniquely and lovingly constructed by artist and professional photographer, Tara Jelenic. Tara’s eye for shadow, structure and silhouette, is emphasized beautifully by the monochromatic color palette in this series, creating contemporary images that are evocative and timeless.

Impressions from Gold Cup

Impressions from Gold Cup Series is a decade long compilation of imagery documenting the Virginia Gold Cup Steeplechase Races through the lens of artist and professional photographer, Tara Jelenic. Each fall, Tara peruses the grounds of Gold Cup using her discerning eye to capture expressionistic compositions. In the editing process, she allows each image to define itself through bold color, warm sepia, or stark black and white. The outcome is a series of contemporary images devised from a centuries long tradition.

Each collection is presented as a cohesive body of work, emphasizing compositional restraint, tonal balance, and emotional resonance. Above are curatorial descriptions of each series, followed by a selection of representative works.
